LAYTON--Robert F. Wall, Sr., died May 20, 1999. He was born October 8, 1914 in Layton, Utah, a son of Thomas Holwell and Florence Adelia Wall. He married Annabelle Harris, November 18, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, in 1934 and seminary, an outstanding student, he was student body president in 1934, also a track star. In 1939 he graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. degree. Attended University of California at Berkely for one year of graduate study. Also attended the University of Colorado for Executive Training.

Robert was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific as a Navy Gunnery Officer from 1944 to 1946. He strongly believed in patriotism, was a student of the Civil War and historical events leading to the founding of our great nation. He joined United Air Lines in 1940 at Salt Lake City, in passenger service. He had lived in Portland, Oregon, Detroit, Michigan, Denver, Colorado, and Chicago, Illinois, retiring as an Executive Officer for United Air Line in 1973.

He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served as bishop of Englewood, Colorado, in the Denver 10th Ward and in Elgin, Illinois. While in this capacity and while serving as building chairman, three new chapels were erected in Denver, Elgin, Ill. and Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also served on the high Council of Denver Stake and Chicago Stake. He was called to be president of the Australia Brisbane Mission and served in that capacity from 1974 to 1977. He had worked in the Ogden Temple as an ordinance worker and sealer from 1977 to 1998, when he had to resign because of ill health.

Bob served on the Board of Directors for the Utah Transit Authority and the Board of the Layton Heritage Museum.

Bob is survived by his wife and four children, Robert F., Jr. (Flora Lee), Layton; Mary Elizabeth (Lisa)(Jimmy) McBride, Layton; David R. (Ann) Wall, Salt Lake City; Ann Lorchin (Anthony) Amone, Dundee, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 1999 at Orchard Grove Ward, 2680 E. Cherry Lane with Bishop don Erekson officiating. Friends and family will meet Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment Kaysville City Cemetery.
