Sina Orthelia McClenahan Monk Houtz

KERRVILLE, TX - Sina Orthelia Monk Houtz, 89, died Monday in a Kerrville hospital of natural causes. She was the mother of several area residents. She was born on Mary 11, 1885 in Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete County, to Thomas Elijah and Sina Johansen McClenahan. she married Glen Monk, May 20, 1907 at Mt. Pleasant. He died Dec. 9, 1941. She married Martin Houtz on Sept. 8, 1943. He died in December, 1965. She received her early education in Mt. Pleasant and in 1921 moved to Orem where she lived until 1943. Following her second marriage she lived in Lindon and then Salt Lake City. She moved to Kerrville in 1967. She was a member of the LDS Church.


She is survived by five sons, Dalton Monk, Fredricksburg, Tex.; Willis E. Monk, Kerrville, Tex.; Affel L. Monk, Provo; LeMoyne Monk, Rexburg, Ida., and James M. Monk, Olympia, Wash; six step-sons and one step-daughter, Earl Houtz, Midway; George LeRoy Houtz and Harold Houtz, both of Salt Lake City; Max Houtz, Pleasant Grove; Eldon Houtz, Gardenia, Calif., Don Houtz, Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Martin (Edith) Dean of Salt Lake City; 38 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren
