After 85 great years, June Taylor Terry peacefully departed this life on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Charleston Area Medical Center – Memorial Division.
She was born on August 10, 1928, in Carbondale, WV to the late Edgar Taylor Sr. and Clementine Tucker Taylor. She was united in marriage to Watson T. Terry, Sr. of Carbondale, WV, and to this union were born four daughters Bonnie, Karen, Tammy, and Renee; and a son Billy.
June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She faithfully served her church through many roles, Deaconess and Missionary at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School Teacher, and dedicated choir member. She was also a faithful member of the Women's Auxiliary of the WV Baptist State Convention and the Mt. Olivet Baptist Association. She was an active and loyal member of the Naomi Chapter #10 OES for many years. Over the years, she also served her community as a homeroom mother, PTO member, and as part of the Homemakers Club Organization.
She took her Christian duties seriously and as a Missionary, she never failed to witness and tell others about the goodness of God, especially her family. With her giving heart, she always helped the less fortunate, as God's word instructed her.
June was preceded in death by her parents Edgar Taylor and Clementine Tucker Taylor. Siblings Lois Terry, Willie Milton Taylor, Edgar Taylor, Jr., Charles Taylor, Richard Taylor, and Paul Taylor; son Kenneth Terry.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, husband and friend Watson Terry; children Watson (Judy) Terry Jr. of Charleston, WV; Bonnie (William) Peoples of Charlotte, NC; Billy (Cindy) Terry of Temple Hills, MD; Karen (Charles) Mullins of Charleston, WV; Tammy Saunders of Montgomery, WV; Renee Jackson of Montgomery, WV. Sister, Anna Taylor Mott of Capital Heights, MD. Brother, Eugene Taylor of Neptune, NJ. Her twenty-one grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Hope, Kimberly, Kim, Kelly, Roy, Thaddeus, Kevin, Johnathan, Carlton, Latisha, Jamaal, Michele, Nicole, Rodney, Derek, Tyrek, Michael Shawn, Jarren, and William. Her twenty-nine great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also a host of special nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and many other loving relatives and friends.
