FRENCH LICK Paul Abel, 85, French Lick, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday at his residence.

Born in Orange County, he was the son of George and Alice (Campbell) Abel. He married Sarah Ratliff on June 17, 1938, and she survives.

He was a retired laborer for Hayden Contractor Co. and a member of Cane Creek Christian Church, French Lick.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters: Judith Nelson of French Lick and Paula Schuley of Bedford; one sister, Ruth Bennett of French Lick; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, George Abel; one daughter, Linda Edwards; and four brothers: Preston, Jack, Thomas and Carl Abel.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McAdams Mortuary, Paoli. Burial will follow in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, French Lick.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary.
