Willie James Jacobs was born June 15, 1958 in Columbia, South Carolina, the eleventh of fifteen children born to his loving mother, Beulah M. Jacobs. He entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, South Carolina. He was 56.

Willie, affectionately known as “Jake,” received his formal education in the public schools of Richland County, graduating from Eau Claire High School. From an early age, he worked hard as a roofer, learning valuable skills from his older brother and from his uncle. After a burn incident, Jake quickly changed his desire to continue roofing and focused more on driving “Big Trucks.”

After obtaining his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), he became employed with Ben Arnold Beverage Distributors, driving all over South Carolina. He was an outstanding employee with the company, earning many commendations and awards. He received the “Safe Driver” designation every year and monetary bonuses of unused sick leave. Jake never took unscheduled leave from his job.

He retired after 28 years of faithful service to the company. Unable to accept not working, he obtained what he referred to as an easy job with Johnson Food Service at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he continued to work until his health declined.

Willie loved the Lord and always enjoyed worship service. He loved singing and was a member of the Central Male Chorus. He never met a stranger and could easily lift your spirits with his infectious laugh. He had a big and tender heart for helping people. His favorite pastime was fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Willie leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: his treasured children: Reco Jacobs of Irmo, South Carolina, Willie McDaniels, LaTasha Jacobs, Olivia McDaniels, Sierra Jacobs and LaShawn Jacobs, all of Columbia, South Carolina; two adopted children, Renee McDonald and Thomas McDaniel, also of Columbia; four brothers: Curtis, Oits, Michael and Johnny Jacobs, all of Columbia; three sisters: Pauline (Cecil) Adderly of Boynton Beach, Florida, Beulah M. (James) Smith and Gloria (Willie) Bryant, both of Columbia, South Carolina; twenty-six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
