Ms. Jewel Ester Hawkins

Ms. Jewel Ester Hawkins of Slocomb passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Wiregrass Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Ms. Hawkins was born July 10, 1933 in Houston County to the late Robert Floyd and Mary Pauline Smith Hawkins.

In addition to her parents, sister Nina preceded her in death.

Survivors include two nephews: Bobby Scott, Hodgesville and Billy Scott, Malvern; uncle, Reynolds Hawkins; great niece, Cassanda Scott, Malvern; two great nephews, Tony Scott, Hartford and Thomas Scott, Auburn; great-great nephew, Warren Money; cousins: Ronald and Jimmy Earl Smith, Sherry Saunders, Kim and Joe Hawkins and Joyce Johnson; other extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers: Joel Pullum, James Adkins, Jimmy Davidson, Jeremiah Pullum, Tony Kelly and Mike Johnson.
