Ida “Peggy” M. Simmons, (nee Jenkins), 84, of Broomall, formerly of Upper Darby, died September 12, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Bryn Mawr, she attended Lower Merion schools. Mrs. Simmons was a longtime resident of Upper Darby and moved to Broomall 6 years ago. Peggy was a homemaker, devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, loved to cook and bake and walks to visit local merchants. Trips to Ocean City NJ and the Sun Valley Campgrounds were a joy and she was an accomplished knitter. Ida “Peggy” was the wife of the late Robert P. who died in 2007 and mother of the late Barbara, who died in 1999.
Survivors: include her sons, Bill (Linda), Robert L., her daughter, Nancy Simmons, a brother, Charlie Jenkins, grandchildren, Kurt (Liberty), Lisa and Philip Simmons, great-grandchildren, Claudia, Izabel & Penelope Simmons.
Service: Her Memorial Service will be 11am, Thursday, Sept 18, 2014, at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd, Drexel Hill, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment: Arlington Cemetery.
