Funeral services to celebrate the life of Max Taylor will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Rev. Billy Pierce will be officiating the service. Interment will follow the service with military honors. The family will be receiving
friends on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.

Max was born on February 5, 1934 in Victor, Iowa and passed away on December 4, 2014 in Shreveport, Louisiana after numerous battles with cancer. He was 80 years old.

Following graduation from Montezuma High School in 1952, and Drake University in Des Moines in 1956, he received his commission in the U. S. Air Force in 1956. During his 20 year career with the USAF, he amassed over 5000 flight hours in B-47's and B-52's and numerous medals. Max spent 12 months in Vietnam during the war and flew over 102 combat missions where he was awarded the Bronze Star for manning his station during enemy attack. He also served for one year as a Radar Bomb Security Officer in Saigon. In 1973 he was sent to Barksdale Air Force Base and worked in the Combat Evaluation Group. Max retired in October 1, 1976. In 1981, he went back to work for the State of Louisiana for a little over 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Letha Taylor, his brother Norman Taylor, and his oldest son, Norman E Taylor.

Max was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine Taylor, his daughter Debra Taylor of Bossier City, LA his son and his wife Mark and Teresa Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, four grandchildren, Troy, Ashley, Jessica and Nicole Taylor. He is also survived by his sister and her husband Shirley and Dale Cooper.

Honorary pallbearers are Fred Christner, BJ Brown, Floyd Pitch and Scott Butler.
