Ruby White Dunn, age 84, Burgin, widow of Herbert Dunn Sr., departed this life Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her residence in Burgin with a host of family and friends nearby.
Born February 1, 1930 in Burgin, KY, she was the daughter of the late Alvis and Goldie Smith White. She attended Burgin Colored Elementary School, graduated from West Side High School and attended Paducah Jr. College. She was a founding participant for Head Start and the Community Action Program, and then became director for what is now known as the Ruby Dunn Senior Citizens Center for 34 years. She was a life-long member of the Loyal Benevolent Society No. 3, member of the Harrod Homemakers, the West Side High School Reunion Committee, a Kentucky Colonel, plus other community outreach programs. She was a devoted member of the Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin where she was former secretary and finance clerk and member of the Missionary Society.
Survivors include six daughters: Charlotte (Freddie) Wyckoff, Sheridan (Norris) Dunn McKee, Gwendolyn (Clarence) Brewer, Dorothy (Richard) Hart, Linda Dunn, and Donna Dunn Linton; one son, Raymond Dunn; six sisters, Shirley Akiwowo, Eleanor Dunn, Anna Parks, Arnetta White, Jane James, and Jacquelen D. White; two brothers, Charles White, and Alvis (Anna Elizabeth) White; 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, aqnd 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Anita "Piggy" Dunn and Janice Dunn Hunt and three sons, Charles, David and Herbert Dunn Jr.
Burial in Robinson Roe Cemetery, Burgin.
