Of Verona, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. Earl was born in Superior, son of Fred and Carol Bell. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior in 1968. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served one tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1970 he was honorably discharged and began work with Lakehead Pipeline (now Enbridge) where he worked for the next 35 years, retiring in 2005 due to health issues. In 1977 he married. They lived in Fort Atkinson for the next 31 years where they raised their family.
Earl was an accomplished pool player and played in the Jefferson County Pool League for over 34 years. After moving to Verona, he became active in the Bullseye Pool League for Dane County. He was a Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. Earl loved playing sheepshead and he and his wife played in 2 card clubs for over 30 years. While living in Fort Atkinson, he also played rec. softball for 30 years, belonged to the Fort Atkinson Community Men's Chorus for many years, as well as the St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir.
Earl volunteered the last three years for St. Vincent Food Pantry in Madison. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Choir for the past five years and was also a member of the VVA Chapter 101 in Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jeannie and his son, T.J.
