Born Dec. 31, 1900, in the Mouzon Community of Williamsburg, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Maria Pressley. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a member of Beulah A.M.E. before joining St. Mary united Methodist Church where he was in the choir, United Methodist Men and a Class Leader. He was a member of St. Mary Joint Stock Lodge No. 101.
Survivors include eight daughters, Francina Watkins, Virginia Burgess and Hager Lee Pressley, all of Sumter, Willie Mae Woods, Myrtle Pendergrass and Lorenna Pressley all of Kingstree, Almeade Joyner of Washington, D.C., and Augustine (Roger) Fowlkes of Fort Washington, MD.; three sons brothers, Abraham Pressley, Theryarn Pressley and Darius Pressley of Sumter; three sisters, Lerlene Redding of Sumter, Queen Elizabeth Cunningham of East Elmhurst, NY., and Susie Pearl Brockington of Brooklyn, NY., 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grand children; and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John Wesley Pressley and Baby Boy Pressley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree with the Rev. Willie Wilson and the Rev. Sam Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree.
The family will receive friends at the home, Route 2, Box 151, in the Mouzon Community of Kingstree.
