Veta Moore, 92, claimed the promise of her Christian baptism Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood. Veta was born in Poetry, the youngest child of A.T. and Alpha Lowrie. She was a bookkeeper in Dallas until she met her husband, Archie Moore. They worked side by side building their first home and at Moore's Texaco in West Fort Worth. Homemaking, gardening, cooking, sewing, and fishing were her favorite pastimes. Veta was a talented quilter. She was a volunteer at the Osteopathic Hospital until it closed and then was a reception volunteer at the UNT Health Clinic. Fort Worth's west side was her home for over 70 years. The family expresses thanks to Dr. Miguel Hernandez, The Harrison staff, her Bright Star caregivers, and St. Gabriel Hospice for exceptional and compassionate care and friendship. Veta was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Archie Hugh Moore. Survivors: Son, Archie Lee Moore and wife, Barbara; daughter, Veta Welch and husband, John; grandchildren, Melissa Faatz, Archie Lee Moore Jr., John Welch Jr., Tracey Elizabeth Louth; great-grandchildren, Chrystale Faatz, Brandon and Corey Moore, Avery and Addison Welch, and William Louth; niece, Lowayne Vaughn; nephew, Ricky Stiles; and many children of her dearest friends who still call her "Mom" or "Aunt Veta."
