Mrs. Charlotte Lawney Parks died peacefully at St. Clare Manor where she had resided for the past three weeks. Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, John Marshall Parks; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Lawney; and brother, Patrick Lawney. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Parks Campbell and Bill; son, John M. Parks Jr.; two grandchildren, Patrick L. Campbell and Lisa G. Campbell; and two stepgrandchildren, Travis and Justin Knighten. Mrs. Parks attended Northwestern State where she was a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon sorority and later completed the nursing course at the Schumpert Sanitarium in Shreveport. She was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army nurses corps in March 1945. Mrs. Parks was a nurse for many years working in all aspects of nursing care. She was a hospital nurse and worked for many years at Our Lady of the Lake, finishing her career in public health. Momma loved reading and fishing. She often said because of her "forgetfulness" she could enjoy reading the same book over and over. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Pace and St. Clare Manor for their kindness and compassion they extended to not only Mrs. Parks but to her family. Per her request there will be a private graveside service. Arrangements by Greenoaks Funeral Home. .
