Mabel's first job in 1941 was teaching school in Apple River, Ill. The next school year she taught science at the Sparta, Ill., High School. She worked at Commercial Solvents in Peoria from 1945 until 1962, when that plant closed. She then worked at American Distilling in Pekin for several years before beginning work at St. Francis Hospital as a microbiologist.
Mabel is survived by her nephews, Edwin Cooper and Burleigh James Cooper and her niece, Deborah Cooper Pellerin.
