Roger L. "Dick" Tanner, 58, 2511 Rhodes Drive, died Saturday in a local Richmond County hospital.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. J. Emory Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Tanner was a native of Washington County, Ga., and lived in Augusta for 28 years. He was a member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Road Church and a retired engineer technician in the civil service, He was a National Association for Stock Car Racing official, starter, flagman and driver. He was an active CBer in Augusta with the handle "Georgia Boy".
Survivors include his wife, Velma Smith Tanner; two daughters, Dianne Tanner Gearig, Louisville. Ga., and Patricia Tanner Branan, Augusta; and two sisters, Inez Marchman, Augusta, and Dorothy Mills, Milledgeville, Ga.
Pallbearers will be Silas Lord, Jack Watson, Johnny Smith, Richard Sayerhoefer, Jimmy Davis and Edward Mitchell.
