"Pneumonia Caused Aged Womans Death
"Mrs. Sarah Bales Passed Away At The Home Of Her Daughter,
Mrs. Samuel Donley.
"Mrs. Sarah Bales, 77 years old, widow of David Bales, died unexpectedly at 4:30 this morning at the home of her daughter, Jennie Donley, wife of Samuel Donley, 831 Meridian Street.

"Death was caused by pneumonia, which developed Sunday. Mrs. Bales had been visiting relatives in Sugar Creek Twp. She returned home ten days ago feeling ill. A few days later she began to suffer from a severe cold, but her relatives did not become alarmed over her condition until Sunday morning when her family physician announced that pneumonia had developed.

"Mrs. Bales was a daughter of Townsen (sic) and Jane Shaw, who were pioneer residents of Shelby County and she was born in Sugar Creek Township May 9, 1838. Her home had always been in Shelby County and had many friends, by all of whom she was held in highest esteem.

"Her marriage to Mr. Bales occured sixty years ago and 11 children were born to the union. The daughter at whose home she died and five sons and 15 grandchildren survive her. The sons are Charles and Albert of Sugar Creek Township, Isaac of Elwood and Benjamin of Georgia.

"Mrs. Bales was a member of the Methodist Church at Boggstown."

"The funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Boggstown at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon and the interment will be made in the Boggstown Cemetery in charge of Stewart and Fix."
