Henrietta (Hagemeier) Barnard, 94, Beatrice, died at the Beatrice Manor, Thursday, April 13, 2006. She was born March 26, 1912 at rural Pickrell and was baptized April 14, 1912 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell and was confirmed in June of 1927 at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell. She attended Fisher and Townsend Country Schools near Pickrell. She married George Hagemeier, January 28, 1932 at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed east of Dewitt until moving into DeWitt in 1953. She worked as a seamstress from her home and also worked at the Beatrice Sale Barn Café and several other cafes throughout the area. George died in 1964 and she married Harold Barnard in 1967 and they lived in Wymore and Beatrice. She is a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Wymore where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was currently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, bowling and sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Survivors: Daughters: Engelina Zulauf of Plymouth and Arlyce Albert and husband Gary of DeWitt. Step-daughter: Marilyn Sherwood of Fremont. Six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Step-brother, Raymond Theye and wife Lila of Gresham, Oregon. Two sisters-in-law, Neva Frohlick and husband George of Denver, CO and Evalyn Fitzwater and husband Don of Beatrice. Special friend, Maria DeBloc of Beatrice. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents: Thomas and Ockelina Menninga Gerdes, first husband: George Hagemeier who died in 1964, second husband: William Harold Barnard who died April 3, 2006, son-in-law, Robert Zulauf in 1993, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and one brother, George Gerdes.

Funeral services: Monday, 10:30 A.M., Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt with Pastor Ken Kramer officiating. Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery of DeWitt. Memorial to: Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt and the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Plymouth with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Beerenstrauch in charge. Family prayer service: Monday 10:15 A.M. in the fellowship room of the church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 12:00 noon Friday to 9:00 P.M. Saturday evening, Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and then at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday.
