Roland J. "Buzz" Barker, age 75, of Peoria passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at 5:11 a.m. at Proctor Hospital.
Born April 6, 1930 in Groveland, Il., he was the son of Otis and Ruth (Kieswetter) Barker. He married Carlene Liehr on Nov. 30, 1952 in Perry, Il. She survives. Also surviving, one daughter, Linda Richardson of Peoria; one son, Kevin (and Linda) Barker of Weatherford, Texas, and two sisters, Rosemary Gebaur and Kathleen (and Richard) Van Pelt, both of Clearwater, Florida. He also has three grandchildren, Ryan Richardson, Renee Richardson both of Peoria, and Jason Barker of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Ray Barker, and two sisters, Jerry Knobloch and Jean Davis.
He retired from International Paper in 1992. He was previously employed by Armour Meat Packing.
He attended Peoria schools and served two years in the army during the Korean War. He was a member of University United Methodist Church.
Services will be Wednesday Sept. 14, 2005 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
