Edd Hollifield, age 83, of Marion, NC died Monday, December 1, 2014 at McDowell Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 4, 1931 in McDowell County, NC to the late Sewell and Bessie Boone Hollifield. Edd was a member of Faith Baptist Church and retired from H&B Lumber Co. He was an outdoorsman. He loved gardening and cutting wood. He also loved people and talking to everyone he met.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one son, Jeff Hollifield; one daughter, Yvonne Beaver; six brothers, Bynum, Holland, Edgar, Woodrow, Harvey and Elsie Hollifield; and two sisters, Frances Brackett and Alma Stamey.
Surviving Edd are his wife of 51 years, Glenda McKinney Hollifield of the home; two sons, Johnny Hollifield and wife, Lillie and Michael Hollifield and wife, Candy all of Marion; one daughter, Keisha Hollifield and wife, Dericka of Marion; six grandchildren, Eric Greer and wife, Heather, Steven Beaver, Ashley Hollifield, Brian Hollifield, John Allen Hollifield and Caleb Hollifield; two great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Gracie Greer; a special friend and brother-in-law, Deane McKinney; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 4, 2014 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Pastor Gary Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Biddix Cemetery.
