Asenath FLENNIKEN was born January 1842 in Tennessee (possibly Tipton County) to Robert Elias (born ca. 1814 in North Carolina) and Mary Doaks (Matthews) FLENNIKEN (born ca. 1815 in Tennessee). She was born ca 1842 per her capstone. I have found "Asynthie" in the 1850 San Marcos Texas census (Hays County); after research, it appears that she was named after her maternal grandmother. She is not found with or near the family in 1860 (they were in Jackson County Illinois). Robert and Mary had the following children:

i. William J. FLENNIKEN, born in Tennessee ca. 1839. William married Margaret/Martha (YETS?), last found in 1880 in Cotton Hill, Dunklin County, Missouri.

ii. Sarah J. "Sally" FLENNIKEN, born in Tennessee ca. 1842. On 17 January 1858 in Travis County Texas, Sarah married Sanford W. DUNS(T)ON. She died 3 April 1872 in Travis County Texas.

iii. Asenath Mandeville FLENNIKEN, born in Tennessee in January of 1842, died in Williamson/Travis County Texas 10 November 1862. Buried Pond Springs Cemetery.

iv. Esther Agnes FLENNIKEN, born in Tennessee ca. 1849.

v. John T. FLENNIKEN, born in Tennessee ca. 1852.

vi. Mary Matthews FLENNIKEN, born in Travis County Texas 10 July 1856.

vii. Eliza Henderson FLENNIKEN, born in Travis County Texas 10 July 1856.

Asenath STEWART likely died due to a childbirth-related illness. Her son, Andrew STEWART was born in October 1862 per the 1900 Lampasas County Texas census. Asenath was the first known burial in Pond Springs Cemetery proper (Jacob Leonce GLENN was buried in Walden Cemetery in 1860).

According to family researchers, Asenath married Andrew Jackson STEWART, son of Laban STEWART, in 1861. I can find no official record, and as she is not listed with her parents in the 1860 census, she might have married in 1860. I have yet to find the 1860 census for Laban Stewart or his son Andrew. "AJ" was born in Alabama in 1838 and died in Baton Rouge Louisiana 13 April 1865, 4 days after Lee surrendered to Grant. I believe he served in the 1st Texas Cavalry Regiment (USA), which was organized at New Orleans on 6 November 1862, 4 days before his wife died. Therefore he was likely not present at the birth of his son, and death of his wife. He never saw either one after leaving for New Orleans. He is buried in the Baton Rouge National Cemetery.

Son Andrew J. STEWART, born ca 1862, can be found living with STEWART grandparents in the 1870 and 1880 Williamson County Texas censuses. In 1900, Andrew had been married to Myra L. (MURPHY) for 12 years; both of his parents were born in Missouri (actually, his father was born in Alabama and his mother was born in Tennessee). Myra L. (MURPHY) STEWART was born in Texas 27 June 1870, and died 2 September 1907. She is buried in Bethel Cemetery, Burnet County Texas. Andrew STEWART and his son Andrew appear to have died by 1910, as Asenath and Vada are in the 1910 McCulloch County Texas census as "boarders" in the home of Edd Broad.

Known children of Andrew STEWART Jr and Myra L. (MURPHY) STEWART:

i. Ollie Asenath STEWART, born in Texas August 1888.

ii. Andy H. STEWART, born in Texas November 1890.

iii. Vada STEWART, born in Texas December 1897.
