Sallie is buried with her 2 sisters and their husbands (Martha (Smith) HEATON, and Mary (SMITH) WHITE. To date, three different headstones have been found for Sallie E. SMITH; one being found in piece at the base of a tree, mixed in with other pieces of other headstones from the cemetery. It does not appear that Sallie ever married, however, in the 1920 Travis County Texas census, she is living with the WHITES and listed as a widow. I don't know why, but I have a hunch that Sally was engaged to someone who died in the Civil War, and she never married after his death.

Per descendant D. Sebren: James L. Smith married two sisters, Elizabeth Scales and her younger sister, Mary Ann. Elizabeth is the mother of Martha, Sallie, and Mary (wife of Pinkney White). All three sisters are buried in the Pond Springs Cemetery. James and Mary Scales Smith also had three daughters together, one of whom is my great-grandmother. James, Mary Scales Smith and their three daughters are all buried in Georgia. This information regarding James marrying the two sisters is documented in marriage records for Franklin County, Georgia, as well as the will of Willis Scales who was the father of Elizabeth and Mary Ann Scales.
