NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Doris Lorraine Golden, 84, of 4066 Helens Pouroff Ave., formerly of Shamokin, passed away at home at 9:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014.
She had lived in North Las Vegas the past seven years, where she was lovingly cared for by her devoted daughter, Linda, and her husband, Rich.
Born in Coal Township, Sept. 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Zimmerman) Perry.
She was a graduate of Coal Township High School.
On Feb. 11, 1948, in Baltimore, Md., she married James E. Golden, who preceded her in death June 29, 2001.
During her husband's military career, she traveled to many places, including Germany, Alaska and many other parts of the United States.
She was a member of Mother Cabrini Church while she lived in Shamokin, and later the New Harvest Church while living in North Las Vegas.
When traveling with her husband in the military, she belonged to the American Youth Association and was part of the Airborne Association. Doris loved traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving are seven children, Jim Golden and his wife, Sharon, of Florida, Bob Golden and his wife, Pam, of Stephens City, Va., Susan Golden, of Selinsgrove, Patty Broscious and her husband, Rich, of Shamokin, Dody Brown and her husband, Roy, of Sunbury, Bill Golden and his wife, Kathy, of Shamokin, and Linda Vogt and her husband, Richard, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Shirley (Perry) Bebenek; a brother, Roland Perry; nine grandchildren, Kiley Painter, Kristen Reed, Nikkei Golden, Carissa Golden, Brianne Golden, Mandy Scicchitano, Anna Haines, James Vogt and Josh Vogt, and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Golden, and five siblings, Agnes, Ellen, Jim, Bill and Don.
Funeral service was held at the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor. Richard Vogt officiated. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
