REEVES, Amy Rutherford, 91, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 5th. She was the widow of William T. Reeves, Jr. after 39 years of marriage and the daughter of the late Reverend Homer N. and Mary Adele Rutherford. She was born September 14, 1921 in Lynnville, TN and lived in Jacksonville, FL for ten years before moving to Lexington in 1932 where her father was called to minister the Cramer and Hanover Church of Christ. She has been an active member there for 81 years. Mrs. Reeves graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1939 and from the University of Kentucky in 1943. Mrs. Reeves was pre-deceased by her second husband of 15 years, Charles M. Reeves. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Fannie Blaine Harris Hamilton and a brother, Clinton H. Rutherford. Mrs. Reeves was a retired educator having served the Fayette County School System for 29 years. She taught at Kenwick (aka Julia R. Ewan) and Stonewall elementary schools before becoming a supervisor in 1966 of the Title I Program until her retirement in 1986. She was actively involved in the education leadership community serving as President of the Central Kentucky Education Association, President of Kappa Delta Pi, President of the Bluegrass Council of the International Reading Association. She was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma having recently been acknowledged for her 50 years of dedicated affiliation. (Find A Grave contributor SBR)
