ANSWERED THE SUMMONS.
Sudden Death at Decorah Yesterday Morning of Mrs. John H. Wilson, a Formerly Well-known Resident of Cedar Rapids.
A dispatch from Decorah this forenoon contained the intelligence of the decease of Mrs. Mary E., wife of John H. Wilson, who died there at 11:30, yesterday forenoon.
The family lived here for many years and but recently removed to Decorah in the hopes that it would benefit Mrs. Wilson, who had been in failing health for many months, but all that loving care and tender attention could accomplish was of no avail, although Mrs. Wilson was fortified by a strong constitution and wonderful powers of will and endurance. She passed away very peacefully, surrounded by her husband and children, those beautiful singers, Grace, Mable, and pretty little Josephine, whose melodies have charmed many Cedar Rapids audiences.
Mrs. Wilson was a most devoted wife and mother and her life was employed in the most ideal way of making home happy and educating for her children. She was born in Hopkinton, Iowa, and married in Anamosa, Iowa. Prior to her marriage, she lived with her sister, Mrs. J.B. Young, in Marion, keeping her company while the major was serving in the army, and most of her married life since has been passed in Marion and Cedar Rapids, with the exception of a few years' residence in Farley and Postville.
Filled with tender devotion to every duty, patient in suffering, she has left a sweet and enduring remembrance.
The funeral will take place in Marion at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon, services being held at the Methodist church. All friends of the family are invited to attend.
