Susan Allen Orchard Garner

St. George

Susan Garner passed away on December 3, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born November 5, 1943, in Brigham City, Utah to David V and Hazel Farnsworth Allen.

On May 31, 1961, she married Brent T Orchard in Logan, Utah.

They were the parents of three sons:
Allen Brent (Wyone);
Paul D (Melissa);
and Christopher Ryan (A'mee) all of St. George, Utah.

They were later divorced.

Susan married Ron Garner on June 15, 1996, in St. George, Utah.

Susan graduated from Box Elder High School in 1961.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Southern Utah State College and a Master's Degree in Education from Utah State University.

Susan was a hard worker and spent her life touching the lives of others.

Through her years as a teacher at Dixie Junior High School, Dixie High School, and Dixie State University she influenced countless individuals by her love of literature, history, and the arts.

She was genuinely interested in the lives of all those she taught.

Susan's greatest joy was her family.

She enjoyed spending time with them at home and made particular effort to attend their activities and cheer them on.

She delighted in taking her family to places of religious and historical value.

Susan loved to travel and had a special love for the United Kingdom.

Susan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and had a deep testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and of the priesthood.

She had a strong spirit about her and was compassionate to others, always looking for ways to help those in need.

Susan is survived by her husband,
Ron Garner;

three children,
Ron's five children:
Randi Hunt (Steve),
Bruce Garner (Kathie),
Dan Garner (Julie),
Glade Garner (Debbie),
and Scott Garner;

two brothers:
Robert Clair Allen (Joan),
David Neil Allen (Sherie);

one sister,
Marilyn Allen Knoffsinger (Bob);

twenty-eight grandchildren;

and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Bloomington LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 3519 Manzanita Road, St. George, Utah.

A viewing will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary and at the Bloomington Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the funeral services.

Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
