"RODNEY F. SNYDER"

BUTLER: Selfless and patriotic, Rodney Snyder's service to our country spanned four decades. A proud member of Mansfield's 179th Airlift Wing, Rodney loved his job…he loved serving his country.

More importantly Rodney was dedicated to his family. A loving husband, dad and paps, Rodney F. Snyder passed away in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday morning December 3, 2014. He was 64.

The son of Howard Snyder and Mary (Dickson) Snyder, Rodney was born August 15, 1950 in Shelby. He was graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1968. A dedicated crew chief for the 179th Airlift Wing, Rodney served for 34 ½ years before retiring as Master Sergeant. While on base he first met Nancy Kraft who was serving in the Aerial Port. The two were married June 13, 1980.

As crew chief, Rodney had the opportunity of a C-130 named after his hometown. In 1990 the Spirit of Butler #1795 was aptly named and Rodney was proud of its world wide exposure.

A family man, Rodney enjoyed traveling and camping at local camp grounds with his family. Rodney liked fast cars and was most proud of his 1967 corvette sting ray. A NASCAR fan, he cheered for Dale Earnhardt and Kevin Harvick.

He was a member of Loudonville American Legion Post #257, Amvets, and 164th Shadow Flight. A tenderhearted grandpa, he loved doting and spoiling his grandkids.

He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Snyder of Butler; children Stacy (Charlie) Corbin of Norwalk, Holly Snyder of Butler, and Robert Snyder and his girlfriend Sabrina Roberts of Butler; grandchildren Logan, Kaitlyn, Blake, Rylan and a baby granddaughter on the way; siblings Richard Snyder of Mansfield, Robert (Deanna) Snyder of Butler, and Diane (Bud) Carr of Butler; aunt Rosine (Robert) Guerin of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Mary Snyder.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 1-5 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Ken Kinley will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to 164th Shadow Flight or Worthington Township/Butler Rescue Squad may be made through the funeral home.
