Robert Wallace "Bob" Brainard
1925-2014

Robert Wallace Brainard was born to Margaret Martha and John Stuart Brainard in Anselmo, Nebraska on September 24, 1925 and passed away on November 21, 2014 in Eugene, Oregon.

Growing up on a small ranch in a family of seven children he learned at an early age to take on the responsibilities of an adult helping his mother provide for the family. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Glea Wykoff, in 1945. In 1956, realizing that the wages of a ranch hand were not enough to maintain a growing family, they moved to Willamina, Oregon. There he worked in the local plywood mill. He also worked many years in Newberg building horse trailers, and later in a body shop in Willamina. Eventually he operated his own shop.

After his retirement, Bob and Pat moved to McMinnville where they joined the Nazarene Church. After building their home on Sesame Street they enjoyed spending time with new friends and volunteering in the community. Pat passed away in 2004 after 59 years of marriage.

Bob moved to Eugene in the fall of 2012 to be closer to family where he enjoyed church activities and making new friends.

He is survived by his sisters Beverly Shaul of Gothenberg, NE and Willa Mae Faust of Cross Plains, WI. His family includes Tim Brainard (Maysville, MO), Linda Etherington (Newport, OR), Janet Murphey (Eugene), Joyce Hart (Eugene), Barbara Aldrich (Mesa, AZ); four sons-in-law, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

We will miss his sense of humor and teasing personality.
