A graduate of Southern University, Yvonne held degrees in Speech Pathology and Deaf Education. She taught for over 34 years in St. Helena and East Baton Rouge Parishes. Baptized as a child at Camphor Memorial United Methodist, Yvonne was an active member throughout her life, participating in the choirs and on the Founders' Day and Stewardship Committees.
At 74 years of age, Yvonne transitioned from this life on November 13, 2014 in Metairie, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband Horace "Peaches"; her parents Hattie and "Bill" Kelly; two brothers Donald Kelly, Sr. and Lloyd Kelly, Sr.
She is survived by two daughters Crystalyn Lee (Ralph) of Houston, TX and Cynthia Coleman Thomas of Metairie, LA.; two sisters Lois Wilkerson (Bobby) of Waterproof, LA and Shirley Hammond (John) of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren: Brittany DeShaun Thomas, Walter Edward Thomas, II and Julian Patrick Fabre, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank Lake Villa House and Heart of Hospice caregivers and staff for their loving care of Yvonne until the end.
