Graveside services for Mr. Johnny Jay Burgess, of Des Moines, Iowa, age 61, will be held, Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 2:00 pm, from Taylors Cross Roads Church of Christ Cemetery with Rev. Josh Flowes and Dusty Staples officiating. Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burgess died, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Jay Burgess, Jr. of Milltown, Heath Burgess of Ft. Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Doris Staples of Roanoke, Theresa Clark of Winterset, Iowa; one brother, Larry Burgess of Woodland; one grandchild, Cody Burgess of Augusta, GA; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Sara Harmon of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Burgess, Cody Burgess, Ricky Young, Pat Taylor, Dusty Staples and Ricky Brown.
Mr. Burgess was born, February 23, 1949, the son of Amos J. and Minnie Hall Burgess. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked in heating and plumbing repair. Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bobby and Clarence Burgess.
