Helen Cole, 96, passed away at Custer Regional Senior Care on December 2.
Helen Irene Satree was born March 19, 1918, in Wood, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Hans and Inga Satree. She graduated from Presho High School in 1937 and from Mitchell Secretarial School in 1938.
On August 3, 1940, she was married to Herb Cole of Presho. They lived in in Quinn, South Dakota for a year , where she and Herb operated a service station and café, they moved back to Presho.
They farmed twelve miles northwest of Presho until their retirement in 1990, when they moved into town. Herb passed away in 1991.
Helen continued to live in Presho until 2005 at which time she moved to Rapid City to be closer to her children. She entered Custer Regional Senior Care on March 11, 2014.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was always kind, sweet and gentle. Her family was her greatest pride and joy.
She is survived by one son, a daughter,a daughter-in-law a sister, five granddaughters, five grandsons. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; two sons, Mearle and Bob; two brothers, Robert and Kermit Satree, and four sisters, Olga Satree, Emma Siebert, Marjorie Leichtnam and Alice Hendricks.
Visitation will be at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho on Friday, December 5 at 5:30 P.M. followed by a Rosary at 6:30. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church.
