Son of the late Jasper Cornelius and Florence Sheridan Sims, he was a retired salesman with Fleming Food Service. He was a member of Air Line Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Syble Bond Sims; daughters, Joan Thomas (Kerry) and Gayle Smith (Bob); granddaughters, Ashley Meeks, Bethany Herron (Bob) and Cheshire Adams (Josh Welch); five great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. Her graveside funeral was held on December 4, 2014, with The Rev. Bradley Elliott officiating.
