Lawrence C. "Larry" Lane, Sr. 83, West Lafayette, passed away at 5:40 PM on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. He was born November 6, 1922, to the late Stanley L. and Zora M. Smith Lane. He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a B.S. degree. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, and was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. His marriage was to S. Jane Martin on July 31, 1948, in Gary, and she survives.

Mr. Lane was the owner of Lane Engineering Specialties Company before his retirement. He was a Charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, a member of Town and Gown, Lafayette Rotary Club where he was the past President and a Paul Harris Fellow, Phi Gamma Delta, Gridiron Club, Iron Key, the John Purdue Club, American Legion, a life member of Purdue Alumni Association, and was the President of the student Union Board in 1950.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Barbara L. Marshall (Jim) of Shelbyville; three sons, Larry C. Lane Jr. (Leanne) of West Lafayette, Greg M. Lane (Caryn) of Washington D.C., and Tim M. Lane (Cheryl) of Maitland, FL; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Mary Charles, Larry III Martin, Christian, Deacon, and Sara.

Friends may call from 5-7 PM on Sunday, October 15 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel. Services will be held there at 10 AM on Monday, October 16, with Bob Fish officiating the services. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
