Carl Columbus Caldwell, 79 of Cardington passed away early Saturday morning November 29, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born March 6, 1935 in Pound, Virginia to the late James and Goldie (Maggard) Caldwell.

Carl served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force and was a mechanic by trade and also owned and operated gas stations in Delaware, Marion and Florida. He was a member of the VFW Post #3297, AmVets Post #104 and the Eagles Lodge #376, all of Delaware and the Waldo American Legion. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with his grandchildren and his 2 little dogs Sissy and Tiffany.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving companion of over 20 years Wilma Sargent; sons Rick (Joyce) and Carl Caldwell of Delaware, Roger (Debbie) Caldwell of Sarasota, Florida and Tracy (Kimberly) Bronson of Marietta; daughter Pam (James) Rinchich of Sarasota, Florida; 9 grandchildren including Doris Caldwell whom he raised; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brothers Leonard Caldwell of Plain City and Henry (Jen) Caldwell of Delaware; sister Marie Breece of Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Diane Sargent, Donna Walker and Tasha Sargent.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Roger Lee Caldwell Jr., brothers Fred, Ermal, Howard and Thurman, a sister Rosie and his ex-wife and mother of his children Mary Caldwell.

The family will receive friends on Friday December 5th from 4 – 7 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware and where funeral services will be held on Saturday December 6th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in Kilbourne where military honors will be provided at graveside.
