Motor racing driver. Born in La Capelle (Aisne), France, Mairesse built up a long distance haulage company from very modest beginnings. A friend invited him to a motor race which he enjoyed so much, he began racing in a small way. He competed in only three Grand Prix in a Talbot-Lago T26C with a highest place of 9th in the 1953 French GP at Reims. He also raced sportscars finishing in second place in the 1950 & 1951 Le Mans 24hr races. During the 1954 Coupe de Paris meeting at Montlhery near Paris, he swerved to avoid a slower car and collided with a concrete wall with fatal consequences. A 6yr old boy was also killed in the crash.
