ALBERT HOKSBERGEN

Death called unexpectedly on Albert Hoksbergen of Pella as he stood upon the corner near the Marion County State Bank last Saturday evening, June 1st, at about 7 30 o'clock. He was engaged in conversation with a friend when he was smitten. Kenneth Bean opened the door to the bank and Mr Hoksbergen was carried in but life had already departed. Dr C. I. Fox was called but could do nothing. Mr. Hoksbergen had left the home on Broadway fifteen minutes before apparently in excellent health. Hewas 70 years, 3 months and 26 days old.

Albert Hoksbergen, the son of Lewis Hoksbergen and Ebbeline Beeman Hoksbergen was born in New Jersey on the 3rd of February, 1870. When he was five years of ago his parents moved to Pella where they lived on a farm. Here he grew to manhood. On Feb. 14th, 1893, he married Nellie Van Niewaal. To this union fourteen children were born, three of whom died in infancy and eleven survive. His first wife died on Jan. 3rd, 1920.

In 1927, on the 3rd of March he married Jennie Van Niewaal. She survives him together with the children who are as follows. Mrs. Martin De Jong of Pella, Mrs. Ben Groenendyk, Tracy, Mrs. Marinus Rozeboom, Tracy, Tunis Hoksbergen, Tracy, Ray Hoksbergen, Taintor, Isaac Hoksbergen, Pella, Peter Hoksbergen, Tracy, Mrs. Peter Groenendyk, Tracy, Nick Hoksbergen, Taintor, Mrs. Henry Rozeboom, Tracy and Bert Hoksbergen of Pella.

He leaves also two brothers, John of Pella and Gerrit of Monroe, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Dick VanWyk of Sully and Mrs Gerrit Van Zee of Pella. Three brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the home on Broadway at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Tuesday, June 4th and at 1:30 at the 2nd Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Koning of Tracy was in charge of the services and interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
