Mrs. Eunice Blanche Folger Hollingsworth, age 87, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away on Monday December 1, 2014 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County on January 30, 1927 to the late Benjamin Franklin Folger, Sr. and the late Mabel Waugh Llewellyn Folger. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Tommy” Folger Hollingsworth; three sisters Kathryn Folger, Mabel Black and Betsy Few; five brothers Franklin Folger, James Folger, Worth Folger, Robert Folger and William Folger. Mrs. Hollingsworth attended Woman's College and graduated from Appalachian State University. She taught school and worked in the Surry County Schools administrative offices until she retired in 1989. She was a loyal and active member of Dobson United Methodist Church. She loved her family, her church, her town and all democrats (as well as a few republicans.) Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law Lauri Ellen Hollingsworth and husband James Earl Rhoades, Jr. of Asheville, NC and Anne Folger Hollingsworth Knight and husband W. Ronald Knight of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren Kathryn Folger Knight, Margaret "Maggie" Llewellyn Knight, James Thomas “J.T.” Rhoades, Sarah Alexandra Rhoades; two brothers Rom Folger of Dobson, NC, and Phil Folger of Chapel Hill, NC. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday December 13, 2014 at the Dobson United Methodist Church followed by a reception. Rev. Harry Sammons will conduct the service. The family would like to thank her friends and the staff at Parkwood Retirement Community, where she resided for the last 6 years. They would like to express gratitude to the Howard & Joan Woltz Hospice Home. A special and heartfelt thank you her caregivers, Mary VanHoy and Hazel Harris, as well as her very special niece, Nan Jackson. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Hollingsworth family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Howard & Joan Woltz Hospice Home and the Dobson United Methodist Church.
