Mr. Burns was born August 15, 1946 in Potecasi, NC, the son of the late Fred Burns Sr. and Pearl Jenkins Burns. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Emma Rae Beard and James Earl Burns.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army. He retired from Resinall Corporation after thirty years of service. He loved the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Thomas Burns; his daughter, Brooke Burns Stephenson and her husband James and his beloved grandson, Jon Fredrick Stephenson; and his sister, Ann Burns Barnes.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Conway Cemetery, Conway, NC with Chaplain Bruce Dayton officiating.
