Ray Craig, of Buffalo, Texas, passed away November 28, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas just two days shy of his seventy-first birthday. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Rev. Ralph Hale, pastor of the church, will officiate the service. Ray Craig was born on November 30, 1943 in National City, California to Loyd Wesley & Thelma Ruth (Cochran) Craig. He played football and basketball in high school and was well liked among the students. Ray attended Sam Houston State University and graduated with a B.B.A from North Texas State University. He was a lifelong resident of Buffalo, but had lived in Dickinson for a small time working for a pipe company. Ray built and operated the Best Western (Craig’s Inn) and Rainbow Restaurant in Buffalo for many years. He had a fondness for fishing and owned a home in Corpus Christi so that he could fish on the ocean. Ray enjoyed visiting Corpus Christi whenever he had a chance. He loved spending time with his family and friends, of which he had many. Ray was a great storyteller and always had a story for everything. He will always be remembered for his delightful smile and infectious laugh. Ray was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Surviving family members include brother, Gary Craig of Buffalo; ex-wife, Roger Ann Craig of San Antonio; special friend, Cathy Evans of Padre Island; step-daughters, Stacy & D’ette Griffin of San Antonio; nephew, David Craig of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece, Melissa Harrison & husband, Wayne of Ft. Worth and great niece, Emma Harrison. Ray also leaves behind numerous friends and acquaintances. Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
