After retirement he continued practicing law. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Signal Corps. He is survived by 1 brother, Robert D. (Clarabelle) Kostbade; nieces and nephews, Gary Kenneth (Christine F.) Kostbade of Valparaiso, IN, Robert L. (Lynn) Kostbade, Victoria Small, Charlyn Moore, Janis Hayslip, and Louis Hayslip all of Hobart, IN; great-nieces and great-nephews, Natalie (Michael) Shapiro, Kelly (David) Barrasas, Robert (Christine) Kostbade, David (Holli) Kostbade, Gary R. Kostbade, and Colin R. Kostbade, Thomas C. Kostbade; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Esther Kostbade; 3 sisters, Bernice (Charles) Moore, Ruth (John) Small, and Shirley (Thomas) Hayslip.
