Marienthal -- John Naab, 78, died Tuesday at Briar Hill Manor, Garden City. Born July 14, 1901 at Pheifer he married Emma Paul March 1, 1927 at Kinsley.

He was a retired grain elevator worker for Norris Grain Company and lived here since 1931. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marienthal, charter member of Marienthal Knights of Columbus.

Survivors, widow of the home; sons, Walter, Hoisington, Lawrence, Liberal, John, Raymond, Kenneth, all of Garden City; brothers, Leo, Modesto, Calif., Ben, Moses Lake, Wash., Clem, Nickerson; sisters, Mrs. Mary Ross, Rancho Cordova, Calif., Sister M. Clement Naab, Halstead, Mrs. Elizabeth Culbertson, Sun City, Calif., Mrs. Jim Bridget Jensen, Kinsley; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Weinmann-Price Funeral Home, Leoti. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church; Father Frank Lubeley. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marienthal. Friends may call until service time at the funeral home.

Marienthal -- Funeral for Emma Naab, 92, is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal, with the Rev. Jun Mangulabnan presiding. Vesper services are tonight at 7:30 at Price & Sons Funeral Home.

She died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 2, 1905, in Marienthal, the daughter of Michael and Angelina Biel Paul.

She had been a cook in the Marienthal school system for 13 years before moving to Garden City in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal, and the Altar Society of Marienthal.

On March 1, 1927, she married John Naab at Kinsley. He preceded her in death Aug. 10, 1979.

Survivors include: four sons, John V., Raymond, and Kenneth, all of Garden City, and Michael, Dodge City; one brother, Harry Paul, Marienthal; four sisters, Rose Naab, and Blanch Brungardt, both of Garden City, Helen Pelnar, Holcomb, and Chris Ulbrick, Hutchinson; 30 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Walter, two sisters, one brother, one granddaughter, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call until 9 tonight and Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Interment is in St. Mary Cemetery, Marienthal. Memorials are suggested to Terrace Garden Care Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
