James H. Paulson, 73 of Nutley, passed away on Saturday November 29, 2014 at his home. Born in Newark, Jim lived in Nutley most of his life. Mr. Paulson was employed at Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley for 42 years and retired as Director of I.T. in 2001. A dedicated member of both his church and community, Jim was a longtime member and past president of the Nutley Emergency and Rescue Squad, who actively rode on calls for many years. He was a former member of the Nutley Jaycees, the Nutley Elks Lodge 1290 and the Roche Employees Bowling League and in 2010 he was honored with the Dr. Mattia Community Service Award. At St. Mary’s Church he was a member of the Parish Council and Finance Committees and served as head usher, bingo committee member and was a member of the St. Mary’s Council Knights of Columbus # 2346.
He was married to his beloved wife, the late Joanne M. (Noe) Paulson for 53 years. Joanne predeceased him on May 17, 2014.
He is survived by his five children, Jeanne Aiello and husband, Michael, Nancy Jernick and husband, Brian, ChrysAnne Carlo and husband, Joseph, James Paulson, Jr. and David Paulson and wife Cheryl along with his 16 devoted grandchildren, one great grandchild, his brother Paul D. Paulson and sisters, Marianne Campana and Ellen Schreiber. Jim was the son of the late Paul M. and Olive G. Paulson and son-in-law of the late Joseph A. and Margaret A. Noe.
A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley, N.J. at 10:45 am.
Family and friends will be received at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Nutley, N.J., on Tuesday, December 2 from 1-4 and 6-9 pm and Wednesday morning from 9-10 am.
Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.
In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Mary’s Parish Elevator Project, 16 Msgr. Owens Place, Nutley, N.J., 07110 would be appreciated.
