Abraham True Tilton, son of Josiah and Abigail (Nudd) Tilton, was born 27 July 1790 at Deerfield, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.

Abraham married first Sarah "Sally" Bixby, daughter of Gideon and Sarah (Wood) Bixby, 16 February 1815 at Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts.

To this union five children were born (all born in Maine):
1. Sarah Ann Tilton (1816-1904)
2. Horatio Gates Tilton (1819-1888)
3. George True Tilton (1821-1908)
4. Abigail F. "Abby" Tilton (1823-1908)
5. William Henry Tilton (1826-1907)

Sally (Bixby) Tilton died 05 February 1835 at Somerset County, Maine, leaving Abraham a widower with small children.

Abraham married second Lucy (Longley) Parker, widow of John Parker, before 1839.

One child was born from this union:
6. Maria Amanda Tilton (1839-____)

Abraham was a farmer all of his life.

He died 11 March 1867 at Skowhegan, Somerset County, Maine.

His second wife Lucy died 22 December 1877.

Children:
1. Sarah A. Tilton, born 29 April 1816; died 28 September 1904; unmarried.

2. Horatio Gates Tilton, born 03 January 1819, at Cornville, Maine; died 12 May 1888, at Norridgewock; married 29 February 1852, Ann Maria Stackpole, born 13 April 1833, at Seabrook, New Hampshire, daughter of John and Henrietta (Chase) Stackpole. Mrs. Ann M. Tilton lives at Skowhegan.
Children:
I. Charles Edward Tilton, born 15 October 1858; died 19 December 1912; married 03 September 1891, Caroline E. Hodgdon. No issue. Charles E. Tilton was supervising principle of the Fairfield High School. He graduated from Colby University, 1883 (A.M. 1887).

II. Fred Thomas Tilton, born 28 September 1861; married 16 June 1897, Addie N. Schrowder. They live at Salt Lake City, Utah. Fred T. Tilton is engaged in mining and stock raising.

a. Edward Glen Tilton, born 1902
b. Charles Paul Tilton, born 1905

III. George Augustus Tilton, born 21 September 1866, married 1907, Lavina Butler. No issue. He was a farmer at Norridgewock, now lives at Skowhegan.

3. George True Tilton, born 06 May 1821; died 06 January 1908, at Norridgewock; married (1) 1862, Lydia Stackpole sister of Mrs. Horatio G. Tilton, born 1838, at Seabrook, died March 1864, at Oldtown, Maine, daughter of John and Henrietta (Chase) Stackpole; (2) December 1864, Lois Spearing, widow of Walter Lovejoy. She died at Monson, Maine. Three children, all of whom died the same week, of diphtheria.

4. Abigail F. Tilton, born 23 September 1823; died 08 October 1908, unmarried.

5. William Henry Tilton, born 09 June 1826, at Skowhegan; died 17 November 1907, at La Crosse, Wisconsin; married 28 September 1869, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Florence Dell Snow, born 05 May 1854, in New York City, daughter of Samuel and Margaret Eliza (Birge) Snow. Mrs. Florence D. Tilton lives at La Crosse. William H. Tilton raised Co. K, of the 31st Regiment of Maine Volunteers, also raised a cavalry troop of which he was commissary sergeant. He was honorably discharged at the close of the war. He was the oldest pioneer resident of La Crosse at the time of his death. He was interested in the lumber business in Wisconsin.

1. Jessie Laura Tilton, born 18 September 1870; married 31 March 1887, at Salem, Wisconsin, Charles Rinton Vollner. Charles R. Vollner is in the grain business in Duluth, Minnesota, where they live.

a. Hazelle Antoinette Vollner, born 22 July 1888.
b. Milton Clyde Vollner, born 22 July 1890.
c. Madella Florence Vollner, born 31 January 1892.

2. Clyde Willis Tilton, born 12 March 1875; married 09 June 1902, Mayme Connoly, in St. Paul, where they lives. Clyde W. Tilton is in the auditing department of the Great Northern Railway Co.
Children:
a. Neal W. Tilton, born 23 February 1906.
b. William Tilton, born 08 June 1908.

3. Harold Fred Tilton, born 30 March 1890, lives in Duluth.
