Mutt Adkins, 68, died at 7:03 p.m. Friday at his home at Harbor Towers. Benton Harbor.

Mr. Adkins was born Feb 5, 1920 in Hornersville, Mo. He was self-employed painter. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Adams, in 1970.

Survivors include a son, Walter M "Buster" Sr. of Benton Harbor; two grandchildren; Walter Jr. and Amanda Jean Adkins of Dowagiac.; and a half brother, Sunny Lomax of Hornersville Mo.

His remains has been donated to the University of Michigan. Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, St. Joseph, was in charge of arrangements.
