Fractured neck and drowned when he dove in mud at mire in Johnson's Creek at the foot of Adams Street. Dove off makeshift raft in shallow water at low tide. Was seeking relief from the heat with playmates by swimming in the Harbor waters. The tide ebbed and the water became shallow in the late afternoon there was not enough water to cover the thick mud at the bottom of the creek. His 12 year old brother, who was not there at the time of the incident was present when rescuers found him & identified him.
