Deceased Name: Sarah W. Lake

1915-2008
LUDLOW - Sarah W. Lake, 93, died peacefully on Saturday Sept. 20, 2008. She completed her life at home where she was surrounded by family, visited by friends and relatives, and attended by devoted caregivers. Predeceased by Edward, her husband of 69 years, Sarah leaves her children Catherine Renzulli, Collin Lake, Nancy Devol, Anita Bannon, and Helen Greene. She will be dearly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sarah leaves a sister, Martha Palin, of Orange, CT, and many nieces and nephews. Sarah graduated from Keene Normal School and Castleton State College with a degree in education. She taught in a one room schoolhouse in Vermont before she married and moved to Massachusetts. While raising her large family she was active in church groups, a leader of a Girl Scout group, and taught piano lessons from her home. She had a love and appreciation of nature and its' natural resources and was way ahead of her time in thinking of global issues. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Fri. Oct. 3, at Union Church on 51 Center St. in Ludlow, MA.(Parking available on Winsor St.) A graveside service will be held at the Houghtonville Cemetery in Grafton, VT on Sat. Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Quaboag Valley Hospice, 42B Wright Street, Palmer, MA 01069; the Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center, 39 Chestnut St., Ludlow, or to Union Church of Christ P.O.
