Dr. Thomas Hull Peterson, M.D., died on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 of acute Leukemia. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on June 18, 1929. His parents were Alfred W. Peterson and Irene (nee Hull). He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1947 to 1951. After graduation he married Lucille (nee Schultz) on June 14, 1951 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean War.He attended the University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine from 1954 to 1958. After an internship at the St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, he practiced family medicine from 1959 to 1978 at the Wausau Medical Center. He assisted in establishing the University of Wisconsin Family Practice Medical Residency program in Wausau, and served as Director and faculty member there. Dr. Peterson served as president of the Marathon County Medical Society, the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association, the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, and as a consultant to the County Health Care Facility and Wausau Counseling Services.He was a member of the board of Golden K Kiwanis, Faith in Action of Marathon County, AOD Council of Marathon County, Advisor to the Alano Club of Wausau, and other community organizations. Dr. Peterson retired in 1994. Surviving are his wife, Lucille, and five children, Christian, Lorinda, Jane, David and Rebecca, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was one son, Mark (1963). Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams St., Wausau. The Rev. Sean Motley will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau and again from 12:30 pm until the time of service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
