NOTE: A COPY/PASTE EXCERPT FROM AN E-MAIL from Robert Hoch:
Dear Mr. Buchanan,
I think the 1778 DoD for Mary Purdy is incorrect. In the attached letter (in the collection of the White Plains Public Library) from Gabriel Purdy to his brother in law Eisenhart Purdy dated June 14, 1785, in response to a letter from the previous September 23rd, Gabriel mentions that he is glad to hear his daughter is well and to send his best respects. This is Mary, daughter of Gabriel and Charity, who was left behind with Charity’s parents, Joseph Purdy and Charity Eisenhart, when Gabriel evacuated for Canada. So she was still alive in 1784.
Sincerely,
Robert Hoch
