Dorothy Otto was born on December 8, 1923, in Rolfe, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Esther ( Bollinger) Joens. Dorothy was baptized as an adult on August 3, 1957, at Lake Minnie Belle in Meeker County, Minnesota. She received her education in Rolfe, Iowa. On October 12, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Otto in Emmetsburg, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with nine children. Dorothy and Raymond resided and farmed near Gorman, South Dakota, and West Bend, Iowa, before moving to their farm in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, Minnesota in 1949. After retirement, Dorothy and Raymond moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 66 years of marriage until Raymond passed away on May 28, 2007. Dorothy was a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of Shalom Baptist Church in Hutchinson, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau. Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing cards, and going to Senior Center activities, where she participated in plays. She also enjoyed reading and playing the piano. Dorothy was a wonderful hostess and loved having her family and friends visit. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When Dorothy needed assistance with her daily care she became a resident of Cokato Manor in Cokato, Minnesota on May 31, 2013. She passed away there on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the age of 90 years. She will be dearly missed.
