Ruthie Mae JONES

JONES, Ruthie Mae departed this earthly realm peacefully at home on November 23, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 83. Ruthie was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Mae Thompson; father, Lamar Atkinson; husband, Charlie Lee Jones; sisters, Ovella Williams and Julia Akridge; brother, Lamar Atkinson, Jr.; and son, Willie Atkinson. She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Darroane) McAtee and Marcia Jones; son, Kenneth Lee Jones; sisters, Christine Bloodsaw and Burnstine Atkinson; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Atkinson; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and devoted friends, Fannie Johnson, Juanita Wilcox, Jessie Smith, and Ruth Mack. Ruthie was born on August 19, 1931 in Monroe, GA to Mattie Mae Thompson and Lamar Atkinson. Ruthie married Charlie Lee Jones in 1955. Ruthie retired from Montgomery County after 30 years. Ruthie was an active and faithful member and usher at Mount Moriah Baptist Church prior to her decline in health. Her homegoing celebration is scheduled for Monday December 1st at 11AM at Mount Moriah Baptist Church (301-323 Mia Avenue Dayton, OH 45417). Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Dr. Herman L. Walker will officiate the ceremony. She will be laid to rest at Jeffersonview Cemetery.
