Marmet, W Va, July 1 - A very disastrous explosion occurred in the power house of the Marmet Coal Company's mine, at Hernshaw, five miles up Len's Creek from Marmet this morning at 11:30. Two little girls were killed outright and the engineer and fireman were slightly injured. The power house was wholly demolished.
Inez Spurlock, aged 11, and Icey Spurlock, aged 8, the daughters of Wm Spurlock, had brought the dinner for their brother-in-law, Elverson Miller, and were waiting for the dinner basket when the boiler in the power house exploded and they were instantly killed.
